When I went into Boots & saw this product in front of me whilst at the Maybelline counter I knew I had to have it, it was just to cool not to! (Am I the only one that buys into gimmicks?)
So onto the review
Price: £7.99
What it is: This is a range of lipsticks(they have a few more colours in the line) that adapts to your lip tone, so for example this one is supposed to turn to your ideal peachy orangey colour and there are others in the line that turn to your perfect rid, or nude or bright pink etc.
What I think: I am just so unimpressed with this product, from Maybelline I would have expected a lot lot more. I would have included swatches but this product is so sheer that my camera wouldn't even pick it up. It goes the palest, most sheer colour ever and is practically clear. The only way you can get any pigmentation is if you swatch it for about 5 minutes and even then it is still not good. The product feels very plasticy when applied and the smell is not very nice either, it smells quite chemically. This is nice for someone who just wants a glossy look to their lips, but then again you may aswell just pay a couple of pounds for a clear gloss. I don't usually like to give negative reviews of products but this is quite a lot of money for a drugstore product and it just isn't worth the money at all. I don't know if it is just this colour that is super sheer, so if you have tried any of the other lipsticks in this colour changing line please let me know what you think of them.

DeleteI was holding the pink one in my hands the other day and doubted whether to get it or not. The pink one actually smells delicious. Thank you so much for the review! If i want a little gloss on my lips, i'll use a tinted lipbalm haha. I did expect a lot from this product. Too bad :)

Oh really? I thought this one smelt quite plasticy, could just be me though :) Aww you're very welcome, hahah yes I will be too! & I agree from Maybelline I expected a lot more :) xx
DeleteIt is such a shame about these because I was so excited when I saw them and I thought a few of them smelt amazing (like 'Push Pops' if you remember those? :)) but when I swatched in the shop I was unimpressed too. They look so cool, it is such a shame!

Yeah ever since I have bought them I have heard nothing but bad things :( which is a shame. Thanks so much for following, I will follow your blog back now :D xx
DeleteI've literally just bought two, Pink Lollipop and Pink Sugar. I actually love the smells of them, one smells like summer fruits and the other like Push Pops as Becky said. I swatched in the shop so I knew they'd be quite sheer. I love the Pink Lollipop, as it appears a light bright pink and I wanted Pink Sugar because of the shimmery baby pink it appears. I guess I bought them knowing they was going to be sheer, so I wasn't too disappointed (plus I got them on 3 for 2 so I got these and a cream blush for under 15 :)). I will be reviewing them once I'm back off my holiday, so look out :).
ReplyDeleteIt is, however, a shame that it didn't do what you wanted and it said :(. Sucks xx
Oh really? The citrus one I have worked out is meant to smell like Citrus Fruits but it just smells like bathroom cleaner hah :') Oh wow that's a bargain, I absolutely love 3 for 2! Hahah, oh yeah I will definitely check that out I will be interested to see how you get on with them! Yeah I think I was just expecting a lot more :( xx
DeleteEverytime I go to Boots I pik this product up smell it then put it down, luckily I have never bought it as all I have read is bad reviews!

DeleteI bought the cherry pop one and surprisingly it isn't sheer and is a nice coral colour. It smells like cherries and tastes good too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh really? I might have to pick that up & give it a go then :) It sounds very different to this one :) xx
