Ok, so let me begin by introducing myself! My name is Alice, and I'm the author of nail art, beauty and fashion blog 'Secrets of a Wannabe Charlotte' found over at http:// secretsofawannabecharlotte. blogspot.co.uk/. This is my first ever guest post, and I'm very excited about it!
After lusting after this product for months and months, I finally bit the bullet and bought it. Now, this corrector retails for £18 on the Bobbi Brown website, but I managed to get a cheeky discount on it while I was hanging around in duty free, and bought it for £14.25 instead! I'd originally had my heart set on the creamy concealer kit, but knowing that it retailed for £24, there was no way I could justify spending that amount of money!
As I'm half Asian, the sales rep recommended the shade 'peach' to me, and as I had no knowledge on this product I just let her talk and demonstrate it for me on my under eye. Bear in mind that at this point I had had no more than 5 hours sleep, and so my bags were even worse than normal. The sales rep applied the corrector, and there and then the results looked amazing so I instantly bought it.
The trouble came after I'd made the purchase and set about using it at home. I applied it the exact same way as she had (with her ring finger), but was not so amazed at the results.
In both pictures I am wearing my usual Garnier BB cream, and in just one of the pictures I have applied the Bobbi Brown corrector. Now, make a mental note of which eye you think I've applied the product to - left or right.
... I had actually applied the product to the eye pictured on the left, but in my opinion the under eye of the eye pictured to the right is closer to the colour I was after! According to the Bobbi Brown website this product is designed to neutralise colour under the eye, which it has somewhat done, but after reading previous reviews I must admit I expected a lot more.
So if you've read reviews on this product and are expecting nothing short of miracles (like I was), you best lower your standards a little before purchasing this. For me this corrector didn't live up to the amazing reviews, but it is better than my other concealers and I will continue to use it. The texture is lovely and creamy, and is very easily blended, although it does have a tendency to settle in any lines so make sure its properly blended out. Is this product worth £18? No, but I have a slight inkling that you're probably paying quite a lot for the sleek, compact packaging that it comes in.
Have you tried this product before? What are your thoughts on it?
Message from Beaumaquillagex :I am currently away on holiday until mid August so some lovely people have offered to do guest posts for me, that's why you won't be seeing much of me for the next few weeks! Remember to enter my MAC blush giveaway if you haven't already!
Great post! I definitely would have expected more from this brand, maybe it was the wrong shade? Hate it when you're disappointed with a product like this x
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! I love this brand and am glad to know this product doesn't live up to its name. xx
