My Year Blogging Tag

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the lack of blog posts, but I am currently without a laptop because mine broke which is an absolute pain and that is why my last two posts haven't been set out very well because I have been using the Blogger app on IPhone. I have finally got access to a computer, and I thought that since it is now officially 2013!(Crazy how time flies!) I would do My Year Blogging Tag, which I just saw on Ally's blog, which you can find here.

Firstly, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, and Happy New Year!
Now onto the tag.

Has blogging changed you?

Yes! Definitely, 2012 was my first year of blogging, I finally decided that I really wanted a blog after having read loads of other people's lovely blogs, and being too much of a chicken to do Youtube, I decided I should start a blog, and I have not looked back ever since! I absolutely love reading other people's opinions on products etc. on blogs, and I have really enjoyed saying what I think too! It has made me a lot happier having a blog because I can talk to people with the same interests as me, and I have made some great friends that I talk to regularly. I have also learned a lot about how to write posts that interest people and how to set posts out etc. which has definitely helped me a lot with my 2 English GCSE's.

How many posts did you write in 2012?

I started blogging in June 2012, and since then I have written 107 posts! This will be my 108th. I am going to try and get a blogging schedule this year so I can fit it around exams, but still blog regularly enough.

What post are you most proud of?

I think probably my Sleek Contour Kit Review, which has managed to get 711 views, and is my second most read post after my 150 follower MAC giveaway!

What do you hope your blog is like in 2013?

I hope to be able to post more regularly and maybe start up a series of posts, so if you have any suggestions let me know! I would also like to finally settle on a structure for my reviews, and I would like to continue to meet new people, and hopefully gain some new followers!

I would love to say a massive thankyou to everyone, this has been my first year of blogging and I have enjoyed it so much. I have met some amazing people, and I would like to carry on meeting even more wonderful people. Thankyou to all my followers aswell! I never expected 359 people to want to read my rambling! I still remember getting to 50 and being completely shocked so thankyou so much!

What has been your favourite part of 2012?

Summer Nails & Makeup

ENTRY WITHDRAWN AS I AM UNDER 16

So first up here is the makeup look I created & how I did it:

I got inspired to do this look when I was on holiday in Thailand & I was looking out of my hotel window at the sunset and I thought 'how cool would it be if I could wear that sunset on my face, hehe'. So I experimented with what I had(excluding the bare study paintpot I used this time round) and came up with this look that I wore out to dinner and loved it!
So what products did I use to create this look?

Rimmel Day 2 Night Volumising Side on my bottom lashes
N07 Extravagant lashes on my top lashes
Barry M Liquid Liner in Brown to line my upperlashline

MAC Bare Study Paintpot as a base
Jelly Pong Pong Nude & Improved Primer to prime my eyes

MUA Lipstick in 'Nectar' for my lips.

QVS Eyelash Curlers
A shader brush & blending brush(pictured below closer up) from Amazon.

This yellow colour from my Blush Professional 88 Palette over my lid

This orange also from my Blush Professional Palette in my crease

This hot pink colour also from the Blush Professional Palette in the outer corner.

So how can you create this look?
  1. Apply an eyelid primer to your eyelid and then choose a shimmery base colour with your finger/synthetic brush.
  2. Apply yellow eyeshadow all over the lid with a shader brush.
  3. Then apply orange in your crease with a blender brush and blend up towards your browbone.
  4. With a shader brush apply some hot pink to the outer corner and then blend out with a blending brush.
  5. Apply brown eyeliner to your upper lashline & then curl your eyelashes.
  6. Apply your favourite mascara to your top & bottom lashes.
  7. Apply an orange lipstick to your lips.
  8. Then apply the rest of your makeup however you like it best! I think this look goes best with a bronzed look, but I wear minimal makeup on holiday so only did the eyes & lips.
And voila! This is super easy and looks really nice.

Now onto the nail look:
So what did I use?

Barry M's Nail paint in 'Lemon Ice Cream' unfortunately I don't have a photo as I have lent it to my friend & am awaiting it being returned.

Dotting Tool

Medium Blue I picked up in an Asian Drugstore

Barry M Nail Paint in Blue Moon

Technic Be Dazzled Nail Polish

So how can you create this look?

  1. Start off by applying a yellow nail varnish to the lower half of your nail.
  2. Wait for this to dry, and then apply a gold glitter polish over the yellow polish to make it look more like sand.
  3. Then apply a medium blue colour to the top part of your nail.
  4. Once this has dried use a dotting tool/nail brush/cocktail stick and light blue/white nail polish to create a wiggly line between the sea and the sand(where the waves crash).
  5. Then to create the white horses(name for waves crashing at sea) draw smaller wiggly lines with the dotting tool/cocktail stick/nail brush.
  6. Apply a top coat of your choice(I used a L'Oreal Clear Polish)

& You're done, this look is very simple and looks so cute!

I then had to nominate 5 bloggers to do this, so I nominate:

Becca from beccammartin.blogspot.co.uk
Shona from freshbeautyxox.blogspot.co.uk
Georgina from theweekendertrender.blogspot.co.uk
Beth from bethlovebeauty.com
& Chloe from unwrittenhollywood.blogspot.com

Sleek Face Contour Kit Review

Hey Everyone!

So this review was requested by The Beauty Shelf, you can check out her blog here.

Heavy Highlighter Swatch

Blended Highlighter Swatch

I have had this little beauty for quite some time now, but I had been wanting it for ages! I bought this because I wanted a matte bronzer that I could contour with, and thought this seemed like a cute little duo! This actually comes in a box with instructions on, but I threw this away. I think that was a nice touch because it made the product seem more high end and classy. I think the packaging of this is well, sleek! It is very sturdy and I have never had a problem with this when travelling. I love the fact that it is black and doesn't look cheap like some drugstore products do. I also love the fact that it has a mirror, as this is a big plus for me.

I think it is a great idea to have the bronzer & highlighter in one compact because it means you only have to carry one product around instead of two, and I am suprised other drugstore brands haven't jumped at this idea.

Now onto the product, I bought mine in the shade 'light' but there are two other colours available, 'medium' and 'dark'. The difference between the three shades is the bronzer gets darker, and the highlighter becomes more golden toned. The bronzer is very pigmented, but don't let this scare you off because it blends out very easy, and you can make it more sheer easily. It has a very creamy texture for a powder bronzer and isn't at all chalky, I love this because it means it looks less cakey on the face than a typical bronzer.

Now onto the highlighter, I love this highlighter because it isn't too shimmery and is very nice for when you don't want a really obvious highlighter, and just want a subtle glow. The only problem with the highlighter for me is that it can create some fallout and is slightly chalky, but this isn't too big a problem because at £6.49 this is an absolutely bargain, and it is not super chalky.

I am extremely impressed with this product, and I think it is a must have in any makeup collection, I am overall very impressed with Sleek Makeup as a whole and I think it is great that they cater for a whole different range of skintones, from very pale to very dark which is unusual as most drugstore brands don't cater for people with darker skins so I think it is great that there is finally a brand that does!

Spending Ban- The 100 day challenge!

Hey Everyone!

So I am setting myself one of the hardest challenges I think I could ever do, but I am determined to succeed! After seeing the Tattooed Tealady's post I decided that it would be a good idea for me to do this. I have absolutely zilch self control and I can't control what I spend, the second some money comes into my bank I have spent it, literally within the next day and then I always have plans for what I will do with the next weeks allowance. I have realized that this has to stop because it means I don't have money when I need it and it is especially a big problem around Christmas time. I have far too much makeup, so much so that I don't think I will ever be able to get through it all, so I need to start using some of it up! I am not only doing this challenge to save money, but also to try and prove to myself that I can have willpower as up until now I didn't think this would be possible, but I am really going to try.

So here are the rules for myself:

  • I am not allowed to buy any cosmetics, no matter how badly I want or think I need it! I have too much makeup and I have enough to last me for the whole of this challenge and even more.
  • I have to stick to this for 100 days(until the 11th December).
  • I can buy presents for other people's birthdays etc.
  • I must only buy clothes that are necessary & because I need them.
So those are my rules, I am really going to try to stick to them, and I will post every week with an update of how I am doing. I will also create a wishlist of things I want and see how many I will still want at the end.I hope you enjoy watching me attempting this challenge, and by all means do this yourself aswell and adapt the rules to suit you, or use mine. If you do decide to do this please link the posts so I can follow your experience too.
