Sleek Eyeshadow Palettes Review

Oh So Special

Original

A while ago now I won these 2 Sleek Palettes in Kay's East vs West giveaway. I won the West prize. You can check out Kay's blog here.

I had been wanting to try these palettes for AGES because everyone always says how fantastic they are, and they were not wrong. I have the 'Original' and 'Oh So Special' palette. These palettes come with a mixture of shimmery and matte shades, although in the original palette there is only one matte shade, and that is the black in the top left corner.

These eyeshadows are so pigmented! I have not swatched all of the shades, I have just swatched a few to give you an idea of the great pigmentation. If you want a swatches post I will definitely do one so please comment below if this is something you'd like to see.
]
As you can see from the above picture, even the matte brown is very pigmented, which can be quite rare in the drugstore matte shadows. The shimmery shadows are so vibrant and I love the blue. I will definitely try and work out a way to wear this.
The two shades on the left are called 'Organza' and 'Boxed' from the Oh So Special Palette and the three on the right from the Original Palette don't have names. I don't know whether this is because they were in the stage of updating packaging or what.

These shadows apply like a dream, they are so smooth and there isn't much fallout. I find the matte shades are a little chalky but not too bad, and the shimmery ones I don't have a problem with fallout at all. These palettes retail for somewhere around the £7/£8 mark and you get 12 shadows which is absolutely fantastic. They are such good quality and very inexpensive too. There are lots of other palettes by Sleek and I will definitely be picking up some more of them soon.

17 Shine Control Pressed Powder

Quite a while back now I was looking for a new powder to set my makeup with and I was watching one of Miss Budget Beauty's videos on Youtube and she was talking about how much she loved this powder. Being a fan of 17 Makeup I decided to go and pick it up.

This only comes in two shades, neutral and then I'm not entirely sure what the other shade is called. This shade is perfect for me but if you have quite dark skin I don't think either of the powders will work for you.

In a powder I look for something that can keep my makeup on all day, stop me from looking shiny, and I like a bit of extra coverage. This does all three, I still look matte at the end of the day, it adds extra coverage and helps make my foundation last a lot longer. The other great thing is that it is super affordable and is £3.99 I think? Or round that mark anyway. It also lasts for ages! I have been able to see the pan lines through this powder for about 4 months and it still doesn't seem to be any less product so it is super good for the money.

I would definitely recommend giving this powder ago!

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

I am so excited to be doing this review! After reading a hundred million reviews of this foundation and looking up tutorials using this foundation I finally took the plunge and bought this foundation at duty free, and I'm so glad I did!

For me, finding the right foundation is really hard, I can never find the right amount of coverage, or the right finish or the right colour, and often I buy a foundation that I love, but then I go off it.

I picked up the colour B20 which is the palest shade for £34, the original RRP is £36. Very pricey!

I have fair skin and it is quite pale, this foundation suits me perfectly but the only thing with this shade range is I don't think it would suit someone who is super pale because even though this is the lightest shade the beige tone makes it not suitable for someone extremely pale, however when rubbed into the skin this does almost 'disappear', so I could be wrong, tell me in the comments if you have really pale skin and this works for you!

This foundation is just so indescribably perfect. It had medium coverage but it doesn't look at all cakey, my Mum even commented that it looked like I had no foundation on at all but that my skin looked really even in tone and fresh. This is quite a runny foundation and you have to make sure you shake the bottle well or it just comes out as water, this makes it extremely light looking on the skin.

Before reading any reviews I wasn't sure how well this would work on my skin because I have oily skin but this lasts great on my skin, although I do set it with a powder aswell. I think this would work for pretty much all skin types though, and it just glides on so smoothly.

For me, when powdered this lasts all day and doesn't oxidise or go cakey which is fantastic. It makes my skin look so healthy and fresh, and I will definitely be re purchasing this despite the hefty price tag!

After buying this my Mum bought herself one and she usually hates liquid foundation but she loves this one. The great thing is this foundation doesn't feel sticky and you can't tell you're wearing it.

Clinique Chubby Stick in 'Curvy Candy'

I picked this up at Duty Free in August, I think these retail for around £16? And I got mine for £12.

I picked up the shade 'Curvy Candy' because it seemed like a nice medium pink and because I was forking out £12 for a tinted lip balm I wanted a shade I'd wear often!

I like the fact that this has a wind up mechanism to get more product because I think that this makes it so much easier than having to sharpen it, and I'm always losing sharpeners. I also love the design of this, I love how chic it looks and I also love the fact the packaging matches the colour.

Now onto the actual product. Now obviously this is marketed as more of a tinted lip balm than a full on lipstick, although saying this the pigmentation is fantastic! Some of the other shades are more sheer so I think that the pigmentation of these depends on which shade you pick, but this one is certainly pigmented. The swatch above is just from one swipe of this pencil which is fantastic. This applies really  nicely and smoothly over the lips and doesn't emphasis dry lips which is fantastic, especially in winter. It applies with a nice glossy finish but isn't sticky or overly shiny which is good because I hate sticky lip glosses/ balms!

As for lasting power? It's not fantastic, but I wasn't expecting it to be because thats not really the product that its market as. It probably lasts 2 hours, and it leaves a slight tint to the lips even after this time. However this is not going to last you all day and does need reapplying quite often. However, it is fantastic that this doesn't just slide off straight away or within a few minutes, so I think that for the type of product this is the lasting power is great.

I haven't actually tried any of the drugstore alternatives to this yet so I can't actually compare this to any of them and say whether this is on parr with any of the drugstore alternatives, but I wear this everyday and absolutely love it! However would I fork out another £16 for another one? I don't know, it depends what the drugstore alternatives are like. Don't get me wrong this product is absolutely fantastic but for what it is £16 is extremely expensive, and I think £8 would be more appropriate.

Paperblanks Notebooks*

Hey Everyone!

I hope the snow isn't too bad for everyone! It is such a pain as I have 3 exams next week one of which is on Tuesday and I am extremely worried I will miss it which means I will have to take the exam alongside all my others in July :( But anyway on a cheerier note I was contacted last week asking if I would like to review a Paperblanks notebook, for blogging notes.

I jumped at the chance because my friend absolutely loves these notebooks and has about 3 and so I thought I would love to try one for myself! I have been wanting a blogging notebook for AGES because I need to get myself into a better routine of when to post and with all my exams I think having a notebook will help to keep my organised.

So here is the design I chose:

I absolutely love it and cannot wait to start writing all my notes in it!

I think these notebooks are absolutely beautiful and they have so many different designs. I think these would make great gifts, and I think I will get my Mum one of these because since this came through the post my Mum has been desperate to get this off me!

There are so many different cover designs, and type of book designs. There are journals, day planners, address books and more!

You can check out the Paperblanks site here

My Skincare Routine

Hey Everyone!

I really wanted to do a skincare routine post but up until now I have never really found a skincare routine that  totally works for me. Usually I find a product I absolutely love but then it ends up making my skin break out or go oily after a while.

I have oily/combination skin that is very prone to breakouts which really sucks! However I think I have finally found the perfect skincare routine for me and I have tested this for about a month now and I have seen a huge improvement in the condition of my skin, and it has really helped to clear up my skin and I am getting way less/no breakouts now.

So here are the products I use:

Simple Kind to Skin Night Cream

Simple Kind to Skin Day Cream

LUSH Eau Roma Water

LUSH Buche De Noel Cleanser

Soap & Glory Fab Pore Facial Peel

I also use Bioderma which is in the first photo decanted into the perfume bottle.

Morning:
  • I wash my face with the Buche De Noel cleanser, this is a kind of clay cleanser, you take a pinch of the cleanser, mix it with warm water in your hands and make a paste out of it. Massage it into your face and then wash off with warm water.
  • Then I spray my Lush Eau De Roma toning water evenly over my face and wait for it to sink into my skin and dry, you could put this on a cotton pad but personally I don't do this.
  • Then I apply my Simple Day Cream.
Night:
  • I take off my makeup with a large oval cotton pad and Bioderma.
  • Then I wash my face again with the Buche De Noel cleanser.
  • I then spray my Lush toning water over my face again.
  • Then I apply my Simple Night Cream.
On a Monday, Wednesday & Friday night instead of washing my face with the LUSH cleanser I apply Soap & Glory's Fab Facial Pore Peel. You could do both steps but I find this overly dries my skin.

If you would like any individual reviews of these products please leave me a comment!
