Lip Picks for Spring/Summer

Warning this is a picture heavy post! I don't know about you, but lip products are definitely one of my most favourite, if not my favourite makeup products. I have nudish/red lips which are pretty boring so I love to liven them up with a lipstick/gloss etc. and I love to wear different lip products that match my outfits etc. so I thought I would write this post for any other lip product addicts!

I store my favourite lip products at the time in this pot which is a Herbal Essences Hair Mask pot with the label taken off on my dressing table and I find that this works really well for me.

No7 Lip Crayon in Delicate Pink

Hi Everyone,

and welcome back to the first of many posts! I have taken loads of pictures today before it started raining and I am going to be writing the posts over today and tomorrow so hopefully I can now post every other day which will be great so please leave me some suggestions of what you would like to see!

I am a massive fan of lip crayons because they are the perfect middle ground between a lipstick and a lipgloss which I love. Sometimes lipstick is too much, but lipgloss is an understatement so to have something in the middle is fantastic. When I went to get colour matched for a new foundation from No7 they had a 'Buy one get second half price' deal on so I decided to try one of No7's lip crayon's. I have only tried the Clinique Chubby Sticks because after I picked one of these up around this time last year I then went on a spending ban so didn't try any of the Drugstore alternatives, but I really want to try the MUA power pouts and the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains.

I picked up the shade 'Delicate Pink'. These retail for £9, but I picked mine up for £4.50. Although these are at the pricier end of this market they are 100% worth it. 'Delicate Pink' is a gorgeous colour, it is a slightly brighter than average middle pink but is super natural and is a great colour for Spring/Summer. Like the other balms on the market this isn't extremely long lasting, but I didn't expect it to be. However without eating or drinking this will last a good hour or so. They are also super easy to apply as well which is great.

This doesn't claim to be a stain like the Revlon ones do so understandably they don't last as long, however even when the glossy effect wears off these leave some of the colour behind, and I think that the darker shades in this collection would last even longer. These claim to be 'High Shine' and they definitely are, although they don't make your lips to shiny which I personally hate. They are moisturising and don't leave my lips feeling dry which is an added bonus.

No7 is a brand that I am really starting to love. Before I never really went near their stand in Boots however now I am finding myself loving their nail varnishes, mascaras, foundations and lip products. I also love my cleanser and moisturiser from them and have re purchased both, which is unusual for me because I usually go off skincare products by the time I have finished with them.

Clinique Chubby Stick in 'Curvy Candy'

I picked this up at Duty Free in August, I think these retail for around £16? And I got mine for £12.

I picked up the shade 'Curvy Candy' because it seemed like a nice medium pink and because I was forking out £12 for a tinted lip balm I wanted a shade I'd wear often!

I like the fact that this has a wind up mechanism to get more product because I think that this makes it so much easier than having to sharpen it, and I'm always losing sharpeners. I also love the design of this, I love how chic it looks and I also love the fact the packaging matches the colour.

Now onto the actual product. Now obviously this is marketed as more of a tinted lip balm than a full on lipstick, although saying this the pigmentation is fantastic! Some of the other shades are more sheer so I think that the pigmentation of these depends on which shade you pick, but this one is certainly pigmented. The swatch above is just from one swipe of this pencil which is fantastic. This applies really  nicely and smoothly over the lips and doesn't emphasis dry lips which is fantastic, especially in winter. It applies with a nice glossy finish but isn't sticky or overly shiny which is good because I hate sticky lip glosses/ balms!

As for lasting power? It's not fantastic, but I wasn't expecting it to be because thats not really the product that its market as. It probably lasts 2 hours, and it leaves a slight tint to the lips even after this time. However this is not going to last you all day and does need reapplying quite often. However, it is fantastic that this doesn't just slide off straight away or within a few minutes, so I think that for the type of product this is the lasting power is great.

I haven't actually tried any of the drugstore alternatives to this yet so I can't actually compare this to any of them and say whether this is on parr with any of the drugstore alternatives, but I wear this everyday and absolutely love it! However would I fork out another £16 for another one? I don't know, it depends what the drugstore alternatives are like. Don't get me wrong this product is absolutely fantastic but for what it is £16 is extremely expensive, and I think £8 would be more appropriate.
