Lip Picks for Spring/Summer

Warning this is a picture heavy post! I don't know about you, but lip products are definitely one of my most favourite, if not my favourite makeup products. I have nudish/red lips which are pretty boring so I love to liven them up with a lipstick/gloss etc. and I love to wear different lip products that match my outfits etc. so I thought I would write this post for any other lip product addicts!

I store my favourite lip products at the time in this pot which is a Herbal Essences Hair Mask pot with the label taken off on my dressing table and I find that this works really well for me.

Revlon Matte Lipstick 'Pink Pout'

I picked this lipstick up in Duty Free last August for about £3, which was an awesome saving because I think these are usually round the £7.99 mark?

I had been wanting a matte lipstick for a while but didn't want to pick up the MAC version in case I didn't like it, because then it would be £14 wasted, so I decided to pick up this lipstick from Revlon instead.

Pink pout is a gorgeous medium pink lipstick with cooler purple undertones. This can be applied sheerly to give a more dulled down look or applied more generously to give a brighter look.

My first thought when picking up this lipstick was that because it is a matte lipstick I will have to re apply lip balm to my already dry lips every 5 minutes, and maybe it won't look that great on me. However it was soon apparent that this was not the case, even though I have dry lips naturally this didn't emphasise this and made my lips look very smooth, although this is not the most moisturising lipstick on the market it is very moisturising for a matte lipstick. I just made sure I applied lip balm under this lipstick and it lasts the whole day without drying my lips out.

This is a gorgeous colour and has fantastic staying power, it leaves almost a slight stain to the lips which is great and I only have to re apply this once if I want to keep it staying super pigmented, however it is still a lovely colour even when it does dull down. This can be worn on its own for the matte effect or you can apply a lip gloss over the top, if the matte look isn't the look you're going for.

The other thing I love about this lipstick is that it doesn't look 'powdery' on the lips. I have had matte lipsticks in the past that look powdery and dry, and trust me that is not a good look. This one however doesn't look like this at all, and looks fantastic on the lips.

I really want to try some more of these, and the next shade I've got my eye on is 'Smoked Peach'.

Thanks for reading
